Iranians yearn for freedom, too

THE WASHINGTON TIMES Resistance wants an end to mullahs’ tyrannical rule. On July 4, 1776, 236 years ago, Americans declared that they no longer would be ruled by others, and the Revolutionary War began. Just a few days ago, Egyptians celebrated their newfound freedom and inaugurated their new president. In Syria, there are growing signs that the end of the reign of Bashar Assad is almost in sight. In all of these cases, people stood up for freedom, defying all odds, and generated the momentum that inevitably leads to victory. A similar situation is building up among the Iranian people - inside and outside their homeland. The same attitude will bring the same result. The only … [Read more...]

United States is Iran’s handmaiden against opposition

THE TAMPA TRIBUNE  By LEO MCCLOSKEY, DAVID PHILLIPS, WESLEY MARTIN One year ago, the peace at a refugee camp under the "protection" of Iraq's government was shattered by the thunder of military vehicles storming the gates. Iraqi soldiers murdered 36 defenseless Iranian dissidents, and left hundreds injured in the rampage. Despite calls from the U.S. Congress, the European Union and the United Nations, there has been no independent inquiry into the incident. No one has been held accountable. How could this massacre go unpunished? The answer goes into a dark, uncomfortable place. This was not the first deadly attack on the unarmed residents, who are members of Iran's … [Read more...]

U.S. must protect dissidents in Iraq

One year ago this month, the peace at a refugee camp under the “protection” of Iraq’s government was shattered as Iraqi soldiers murdered 36 defenseless Iranian dissidents and left hundreds injured. Despite calls from the U.S. Congress, the European Union and the United Nations, there has been no independent inquiry into the incident. No one has been held accountable. The reason goes into a dark, uncomfortable place. This was not the first deadly attack on the refugees, who are members of Iran’s Mujahedin-e-Khalq (PMOI/MEK), living in what is known as Camp Ashraf. There is a pattern of violence and intimidation against them at the hands of the Shiite officials of the Al-Maliki government, … [Read more...]

The most powerful weapon Obama can deploy against Iran

FoxNews.com By Tom Ridge, General Hugh Shelton, Patrick Kennedy To believe that the resumption of negotiations in Istanbul could -- or ever will --avert Iranian nuclear breakout and a possible Middle East conflagration, is to believe in the triumph of hope over experience. When it comes to the Mullahs’ intentions, however, we believe that the past is best viewed as prologue. Consider that on the eve of these new negotiations, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brazenly mocked President Obama’s “last chance” proffer to the Mullahs, declaring that sanctions were a failure because Iran has stockpiled enough hard currency to survive for years without selling any oil. True or not, the fact remains … [Read more...]

Undeterred, the Bi-Partisan Panel Reaffirms Support for MEK Delisting, Vows to Double Efforts

On April 6, 2012, on the eve of the first anniversary of the April 8 massacre of the Iranian dissidents at Camp Ashraf by the Iraqi forces, a bi-partisan panel of prominent US former officials and human rights luminaries reiterated their support for the People's Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). They said they refuse to abandon their efforts to have the group removed from the State Department's terrorist list, despite indirect warnings from the Treasury Department that their support for the group could constitute a crime. The panel stressed that they won’t bow to the scare tactics and intimidations and instead will double their efforts for the cause of freedom and democracy in Iran and the … [Read more...]

True Terrorist Threat

THE TOWN HALL Much of the attention in the Middle East over the past few months has been focused on the suffering of the people of Syria. But the Assad regime in Syria, which is slaughtering its own people by the thousands, does so with help from its only ally, Iran. And it is not only in Syria that Iran wreaks havoc; Iran is the chief state sponsor of terrorism throughout the world. Since the fundamentalists took over in Iran, the regime has been directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans. The most lethal incident was the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983, in which 241 Americans died. And the Iranian attempt to kill Americans continues. Last fall, the … [Read more...]

Terror tagging of an Iranian dissident organization

UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL By RAYMOND TANTER, UPI Outside View Commentator:  The author says facts and the law are against keeping People's Mujahedin of Iran on the U.S. State Department's list of terrorist groups. WASHINGTON, March 22 (UPI) -- Fact and law have been moving in the direction of removal of an Iranian dissident group -- the Mujahedin-e-Khalq also known as the People's Mujahedin of Iran -- from the U.S. Department of State Foreign Terrorist Organizations list. But as fact and law run against retaining the terrorist designation, opponents of the PMOI dance with unnamed diplomats to thwart delisting. If the facts were on the side of the opponents, they could argue the … [Read more...]
