Visit of UN Delegation to Ashraf and Iraqi Government’s Lies

The Agence France Presse and the Associated Press reported that a UN team visited Ashraf on Monday September 2nd.  The Associated Press reported: “This visit is conducted with the goal of determining how many people were killed on Sunday and how; the Mujahedin-e Khalq claims that more than 50 people were killed during the violence that it attributed to the Iraqi security forces. UNAMI delegation visits Camp Ashraf to assess the situation following reports of massacre

Baghdad, 3 September 2013 - 24 hours after the tragic events that took place in Camp Ashraf, a UNAMI delegation led by the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (DSRSG), Mr. Gyorgy Busztin, and including UNAMI Chief of Human Rights and of Medical Sections, conducted a visit to the camp yesterday, where they met separately with the camp’s surviving residents and the commander of Diyala’s Police. Inside the camp, the delegation witnessed 52 bodies in a makeshift morgue. Camp Ashraf Massacre Death Toll Reaches 23 and Climbing

The death toll of this morning raid by Iraqi forces against the defenseless and unarmed Iranian residents of Camp Ashraf in Iraq has climbed to 23 as of 10:00 Baghdad local time. At least five of the residents were shot at close range while they were handcuffed. Many injured residents are in critical condition. The ongoing attack, carried out under the command of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is turning into a whole-scale massacre. Statement  issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees on July 19, 2013: Camp New Iraq (formerly Camp Ashraf) residents and the processing of their cases for solutions UNHCR has expressed continued deep concern for the safety and security of the residents in the Hurriya Temporary Transit Location (TTL), following the second deadly attack on 15 June.
