Protect Ashraf

Camp Ashraf is home to 3,400 members of Iran’s main opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), in Iraq. It is located 60 miles northeast of Baghdad. In 2004, US recognized Ashraf residents as “protected persons” under the Fourth Geneva Convention. The US protected Ashraf until 2009 since then Iraqi forces have killed 47 residents in two deadly attacks.
