Undeterred, the Bi-Partisan Panel Reaffirms Support for MEK Delisting, Vows to Double Efforts

Posted on April 9, 2012May 10, 2012 by USCCAR

On April 6, 2012, on the eve of the first anniversary of the April 8 massacre of the Iranian dissidents at Camp Ashraf by the Iraqi forces, a bi-partisan panel of prominent US former officials and human rights luminaries reiterated their support for the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK). They said they refuse to abandon their efforts to have the group removed from the State Department’s terrorist list, despite indirect warnings from the Treasury Department that their support for the group could constitute a crime. The panel stressed that they won’t bow to the scare tactics and intimidations and instead will double their efforts for the cause of freedom and democracy in Iran and the safety and security of the MEK members in Iraq by having the MEK removed from the FTO list.

Hon. Ed Rendell, former Pennsylvania Governor; Hon. Michael Mukasey, former Attorney General of the United States; Prof. Alan Dershowitz, Harvard University Law School; Hon. John Bolton, former Us Ambassador to the United Nations, Gen. James Conway, former Commandant of the Marine Corps; Hon. Marc Ginsberg, former US Ambassador to Morocco; Hon. Stuart Holliday, former US Ambassador, Special Political Affairs Moderator spoke at the event. The panel was moderated by Ambassador Mitchell Reiss who formerly served as the Director of Policy Planning of the State Department.
